There was an open place in the pecan orchard where the hurricanes had blown the trees down on the this little hump. The farmer had pushed up a few tree trunks and other brush into a pile on top of the hump. Made a great place to set the blind up against and gave us a good shooting area around the blind. We had the sun and wind to our backs. We were sitting in the blind facing just as we are there. Most of the crows came in from the front and right. But of course, some came from all directions.
It would have been better if the opening had been about 30 yards smaller. Many of the crows would bank right on the edge which was about 50 yards in front. Many floated in real sweet and were blasted at short range. Gotta love those kind.
As expected though, we had to run many cripples down into the orchard. It was good for some excercise and to give us a break.
My best shoot to date for sure. Can't wait to get after them again. Planning on shooting the same place again the first weekend in Nov. It will have been a month since the other shoot.
There are other places in the orchard to set up but I lilke this place the best.
Question for you pros!
Should I move my blind location since I have already shot them there once this year? The orchard is probably 200-300 trees.
