Shaddart, thanks for the complement on the CZ...the scope is a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18...the CZ is a very light, maneuverable and extremely accurate little air-rifle...deadly on pigeons, starlings and crows.....Crowtec

Hi David,

Well played!  I use my RWS 52 with an old Beeman Model 66 (2-7X) in this same role.  While you and I whack many more with our Maxus's, the rifle shots certainly are fun.

Regards,

Air rifles sure don't look like they used too when I was a kid.

Crotec, so what range is considered a good killing range with a .177 cal pellet on a crow with your rifle? Years back the .177 was not worth a damn you had to use a .20 cal pellet for crows and rodents.

I see where some guys are using .20 and .22 cal air rifles now, any thoughts on that in regard to accuracy? I know the .20 cal was quite accurate many years ago but know nothing about the .22 cal.

I have the AA200 (same as CZ200) in 177 and it is deadly accurate.  It is part of my arsenal  for squirrel eradication in my yard.  132 tree rats so far since April, 2011. I use the 177 out to about 35 yards then switch to the AA S400 in 22 cal...With the 177, one can place the pellet anywhere you wish..    I shoot dove in the throat or head, off the power wire at my house at 20 yds without any effort..If any of you need a back yard pest control air rifle the AA200 / CZ200 is the best bang for the $$$..Here is a one day shoot with 21 DWD..

Bob, I would say 35yds. and in with the .177 cal. is what I am comfortable with...killing with a pellet gun is all about pellet placement...I have had no experience with the .20 cal. or the .22 cal. but I am sure it is a Superior hunting round...the CZ200 will pretty much make one ragged hole at 30yds. to give an idea of its accuracy of these rifles the attached image is a 1 inch x 1 inch target the smaller squares are 1/8 squares...PCP air-rifles are recoilless and are not hold sensitive like the spring guns are...Crowtec

If I'm not being to nosey how much do you have in that rig, it sure looks very nice. Crowtec, how many shots do you get before having to change the air cylender, or do you pump it?

I have 2 177 pellet rifles, a beeman with a 4 power scope on it & a gamo pro-hunter with a much larger objective scope that I bought at an auction. The gamo is much more poweful than the Beeman. I much prefer the beeman to the gamo, the gamo almost seems like overkill & isn't nearly as accurate as the beeman. I shoot more paper with it than birds, but I agree with everyone else, it kills effectively to around 35 yds. You're right Bob they sure have changed since I was a kid, I have about a dozen old air rifles (bb guns) & I shoot them alot, I relly love my old red ryders, bought quite a few of them on gunbroker. Cheaper to collect than other guns & you don't need an FFL to buy them on line.
