I haven't been hunting much but scouting more. I located a staging area yesterday, several hundred birds. Lets just say They picked the safest place in the world to roost.... I followed the flyway and did a set today at around 2pm. I was 8 miles north of the roost and 1 mile west of the main flyway. I am cautiously hunting these birds since It's the only concentration for miles. I put out 5 boondockers, 2 GHG aggresive callers, and had 5 sentry's. I kept the cs-24 to a lower volume no louder than 23. I used come ere crow, Bob A's excited crow and his distress after I shot. I peeled out 25 KIA's in about an hour. Got my first triple of the season with the MAXUS. I was shooting steel 7's 1200 fps and using my new choke tube, Improoved modified. It is a product of ballistic specialties called open water. It is stone cold death. Amazing some of the shots I have made with it. My blind was not shanedog approved because I was in a bit of a rush to set up but it worked fine. These birds had to be newbies cause they decoyed too well. Here are some pics if they will upload. I had had problems getting these to upload. I also had 2 assault crows in the spread.
