A record season for me in spite of....

My fall season is quickly coming to an end.  I started chasing them in nearby Maine back on Aug 6th.  I have found time to get out before and after work as well as weekends on 56 days since.  This afternoon I got 15 crows before it started raining, including number 600 for the fall season.  I thought a new record kill would be unlikely with Hurricane Irene and a resulting power outage keeping me home, lots of rain, a record late corn harvest with corn still standing into late October,  and a Halloween snow storm and resulting power outage and stuck at home again.  I have got a week to go before duck and goose season starts again and the majority of crows have pushed south but it's still great to get out.

10gacrowshooter has had his best season ever this year too.

Crow number 600 for fall '11 with the gun that killed him, an 1893 Parker Grade NH 10 gauge.

Nice!
My goal was 25 this year. I am at 23.... no where close to yours, but still a heck of a time!

Hey Justin,  what part of the state are you from?  You got a few days left to achieve your goal.  Trust me over time you'll find crow hunting to be more enjoyable than any other kind of hunting you do.  Do you use decoys and an e-caller?

So sorry for the (extremely) late response. Once crows ended, I concentrated heavily on waterfowl until everything froze and then was onto learning taxidermy and too many other hobbies!

I am in Manchester and hunt all over southern NH for ducks and crows including the seacoast area and farm fields in central southern NH.

I have an E-caller but I seem to have much better luck with my mouth call (have tried 6 or 7 and the Magnum Crow works the best for me).

I set up decoys for them when hunting specifically for them or when goose hunting fields, but when duck hunting I usually just call them over when we are in the blind and do not seem to have issues with them not wanting to 'visit'.

I did hit my goal of 25 last year and managed 1 in the spring this year.
