On the invitation of a friend we attended a commissioning ceremony today for the deployment of the 1-171 MEDEVAC Army National Guard's Foxtrot Company.
It was very moving watching their family and friends prepare to send them off for a year long deployment to Afghanistan. I was very proud to be there. I knew none of them personally, but all 47 have my deepest respect and gratitude. These 46 men and one lady will be flying into the heart of Hell if duty calls to rescue fallen comrades. They wont be just where the fighting is, they will be EVERYWHERE the fight is.
I was greatly moved and my faith in our military was greatly strengthen as I watched the love, admiration, and respect their commanding officers lavished on them today.
I acknowledge we have members on this site that are not from here in the US. If in any way you have served to promote freedom throughout the world or here at home, I and my family sincerely thank you.
