Lowering the volume

Does anyone adjust the volume when the birds are in sight? Last night I had a great day, actually ran out of shells with more than 30 mins of flying time left. As I was cleaning up the mess I made (which is a good thing) I had about 20 birds fly low enough to shoot without any type of call going and me standing in the middle of the field picking up the deceased. It just got me to thinking that once they are in sight, lowering the volume may bring them lower. Anyone have any success with this technique.

I've tried experimenting with it but never really saw a difference.

Bob,

When I have the Deeks out, I've done just as good with no calling when in a long visible spot.
