Last Saturday I had my best hunt ever. I had my FoxPro Spitfire and my buddy Josh had his new Primos Alpha Dogg. He just bought his from Cabelas for $250. That call is awesome, I like my Spitfire, but for $50 more I would get this Alpha Dogg in a second. Tons more volume, 3 speakers that you can turn in different directions, or all the same direction. Comes with remote, 75 sounds,( holds up to 1,000 sounds!)
The only disadvantage that I can think of is that it takes twice as many batteries and possibly burns through those faster. BUT, worth it in my book.
I'm tempted to sell my FoxPro and get one of these Primos calls, I liked it that much.
I don't have one, but I've heard they are loud and having 3 speakers that you can point in 3 different directions sounds like a nice feature. 1000 sounds is hopefully more than you'll ever need.
I recently got an Alpha Dogg -- smaller than I thought it would be which is nice -- fits in my bucket, It is loud - volume control from 1-100. I had it cranked to 50 on my first hunt with it and way too loud. I've experimented some and 20-30 is probably about max you want to go if crows are near. Come with hundreds of sounds all species, including distressed everything (squirrel rabbit song birds. Wish I could use it for turkey in NY. Might have my friend take me coyote hunting.
Complaints by many people online have to do with adding sounds -- the file name doesn't translate on many sounds so it just lists as "no name." Primos is working on a fix for it, but going slowly. Hot buttons are nice - 3 of them - so you can switch to a specific call, change volume, etc. with one button. Even a button for decoy that you can plug into it once they come out. I tried connecting my mojo dove by wiring up a 3.5 mm plug, but it didn't work as an on-off switch.
Comes loaded with seven crow calls in three categories:
Calling - Crow Young Fighting - Frenzy, Attack, Attack baby owl, Distress, and Crow Owl Mix Gathering - Crow 1
I can't wait to get better with it. A lot of nice features... can raise it on a tripod, remote is nice with a knob to put on your lanyard with other calls, EXPERT hunts that are preloaded (not for crow though, which would be hard to do) but you can create your own hunts with a sequence of calls and silence, etc.

How are the crow sounds? Are they clear and realistic sounding? Do they distort at higher volumes?

Sounds are clear at high volume. The only time you'll get distortion is when the batteries are running low. The unit has three speakers -- a center horn and two side cone speakers, with 25 watts of power. You can also switch from cones only, horn only, or all three on.
I read the reviews on Cabelas & the only complaints were distortion when the batterys are getting low. Pretty sure i'm gona upgrade next season from my Johnny Stewart. Just not sure what to go with Alpha dogg or Foxpro spitfire, don't want to spend more than $300.
Kev; has your buddy tried downloading different sounds, the Cabelas ad wasn't real clear on downloading, just said you need a USB cord, which I think most folks would assume.

No he hasn't, when we hunted with it 3 weeks ago, he had just bought it a couple days before.
