In the spring I simply employ this setup. Toss a few dead ones up into the branches above and in behind. Place the caller there as well. Being well hidden is more important that lot's of decoys. Crows will be distracted on the owl/dead crow and at times act as though they didn't hear the shotgun report(s).

Hey guys,
I am new here and I have enjoyed reading all the different post. I have had good luck with crow fighting call. My question is how to set up decoys to look like they are fighting each other. Pics of this would be great. My season is done but I am trying to get ready for up coming season.
When will I get my member number to get to the advanced articles? I have been a member a couple of weeks and still not received an email?
Thanks

Hey, I'm no expert and have only started using a fighting set up, but the "fight" is between the crows and some other predator. Typically, an owl decoy, sometimes with Buster II in it's talons. They don't like owls and in my area the Red-tailed hawks either.
With the owl-crow fight set up, you don't want any decoys below the level of the owl, so as many as you can get up the trees the better. The owl decoy generally goes on a fence post. In my case, I made a PVC pipe fence post painted camo colors that breaks down into two pieces. I need to try it out further.
Most of this info I picked up on this site in the articles and techniques.
Get a decoy or two up high in a very visable location. One well placed deek is far more effective with tolling in the crows that a dozen poorly placed. Further, try some soft calling or if your using electronic go for crows or gathering type calls first. A fighting or injured crow call is effetive at turning a few around once they have been fired on...that is if you haven't been spotted
Furthr fighting calling will work anytime. Crows seem to be more agressive in the morning and during fair weather than late in the day when roost bound.

At the moment the fighting setup is being discussed on the german forum I'm in. That's where this video was posted. Quite interresting! From what I am reading there it's an end of season tactic when lots of crows have been smartened up....
Have you any idea which caller he's using? I am looking for the lowest possible caller. (sorry for being OT)
