How did you get the weight over the branch ?

I swing the weight and toss it up with the button pushed on the reel, then attach the foam decoy or two. You could unhook the weight and attach the swivel to a full body flambeau decoy and hoist it up. The weight of the plastic dekes might cause the fishing line to cut into the branch, idk... I've had good luck getting the weights back down after hunting.

Does it weird the crows out that the decoys are "floating"?

I don't think the crows notice that they are not sitting on a branch... no different than tying two dead crows together and throwing them up there.

Pretty big weight -- see the picture.   I used 8 or 10 lb test just so I could break it if I got snagged and hope the weight falls too.
