Hi November,

Very nice photo's and decoy set up...  I would suggest hiding/setting up your blind near some of those buildings in the background, if that is an option.  Also, getting a crow decoy or two up high in a close up tree might be effective for you.  We bought a used "Hot Stick" based on a tip from Big Honkers.  They are used in the electic power distribution industry and it allows you get a decoy up to 30 feet or so... That is 9.1 meters...

Please keep sharing your photo's as we are delighted to have crow hunting interest from across the pond.

Take care,

Not sure about those Deutsch crows, but I cannot get away with setting a blind up like that - wish I could. Most guys on here who are successful really brush in their blinds with natural materials, but there is not much to blend in with from your photos. Bottom line -- I am working to really spruce up my hiding spots. It's not easy, especially when I am limited on how much I can leave permanently in place, but I am working on some semi-portable blinds that are at least partially brushed in. Damn crows.

Nice looking spot, ditto on what shane said about the dog, I have a real soft spot for pointing dogs.

going closer to the buildings is not an option unfortunately. The people living there aren't that fond of shots fired early in the morning.

Decoys up in the trees as "sentry" is one of the things I plan on doing next season.

From the experience I have made, the blind just needs to conceal the hunter's movements, the blind itself does not need to be especially well concealed. I do look for and prefer spots where I can conceal my blind, though.

But it works with a blind (I know this is probably the worst blind ever) in the middle of the decoy spread:

Is your pointer concealed as well during the shooting? I have a Brittany - year old, and I can't imagine her sitting still for anything. lol

Great pics!! November!! If the setups are working for you why change? Do you setup and decoy pigeons at all? Do you do any airgunning?

I have owned  a bunch of huntin dogs,my favorite was my German Short Hair!!

Hi Shanedog, November seems to be quite busy at the moment. Decoys seem to be coming big in germany. There are areas which have lots of pigeons, the hunters do use decoys there or shoot at the roosing trees. Some have started to use Goose and duck decoys, some even use cormorants. Calling is kind of a new found art that was pretty much limited to foxes and deer in the past. There are people starting to call wild boar now... About dogs: The german wirehair is still the most popular all rounder but there's more and more specialists coming. Very few people would use a pointer AND retriever as team these days. Due to agricultural changes the aera of pheasant and partridge is nearly over except for a few happy spots. But we're working on that. Regards, Zeddicus
