Season winding down in NY

Hopefully, I can get out a couple more times for some early Spring crow hunting.  And, hopefully, next year there are more crows around!  Time to get ready for turkey, too -- month of May here.

I hear on the turkey thing biggrin Our early season just opened on the 16th and is out on the 31st. I hope I can get out and fit in as many hunts as I can. Friday evening I was out blasting at crows and listening to birds gobbling up a storm in a field below where I was.

Not sure what kind of winter you had there but it was very mild in NH. The ice fishing season was extremely sad. Do you think the lack of a hard winter and the abundance of food or bare ground has spread out the crows for you in NY? My buddy and I noticed that the number of crows on a farm we hunted Saturday was down from the last year when we were hunting with a good 4” to 8” of snow still on the ground.

Very mild winter here, too. I did much better last year with snow on the ground.

I'm also in NY &the hunting for crows pretty much sucked this year. On the plus side we've been fishing open water for a month, even got out in the boat yesterday, last year everthing was still ice & snow covered at this time. Seeing quite a few turkeys all fanned out, pretty early for that.
