Skeetshooter and I fished Friday and Saturday night. Scored 49 Friday and another 51 Saturday night. These were all cleaned in our usual way. We find about half the folks around here like filets and the other half like bone in fish. We skin the fish and filet one side off and leave the rest of the carcass whole to be fried. By fileting one side off it also lets the two sides cook at a similar rate and thus is faster than cooking them whole.
Anyway, we took the 49 fish from Friday night and delivered them to some of our farmers and their families. They were very appreciative and extended the invitation to come back and hunt anytime we were ready. I also learned one of my land owners had fell and broke her arm and is in the hospital. I will try to go visit her next week and check on her. These little things make a big difference in building relationships in a community.
Our farmers always express great appreciation for us hunting their crows. They always seem excited when we have success and tell us we are helping them but honestly I always feel like we are getting much more than we are giving. This is just an easy way to give something back to them. We are going to fish anyway and who doesn't love a good mess of fresh fish.
Pictured is the fish from Saturday night. That is a 54 Qt ice chest. They all ranged around 1 to 2.5 lbs from both nights.

Forgot to mention how the rest of the fish will be used. We are taking a bunch of dads and their sons to our farm down in the country the first weekend in April. This school year, (we home school) several of us dads have been teaching classes through our home school coop on outdoor actives like fishing, camping, fire building, canoeing, orienteering, hiking, gps, compass and map reading and the like. I taught a class on gun safety and choosing the correct weapon for the situation you will be hunting.
We will camp at our farm and let the kids practice all the skills they learned this past year. For some of these kids, it will be the first time they have shot a 22 or a shotgun, or canoed or used a compass or who knows what else. It is a great thing to pass on what we have all been taught by the generations before us. A lot of the outdoor skills are going by the way side as we spend more and more time in cites and in front of media outlets.
We will have a good ole fashion fish cookin' while there and put the rest of these cats to good use.
It doesn't matter how old or young you are, PLEASE take the time to teach the youth around you outdoor skills.

Thanks for the kind words guy. I don't post stuff like this to brag, but to encourage others to do the same. So often we can get into a rut where it feels like no one cares and what little we are able to do is not enough. I share stuff like this as encouragement to others. To spur one another on to good deeds.
PS. I save the pics of dead crows for braggin'
