When is Crow Season in the States, we have Game Season, and we have Waterfowl Season, and even Deer Season, but we don't have a "Crow Season". They are classed as vermin here, and along with most corvids (Except Ravens and Jays, which are protected species), can be shot all year round, along with Wood Pigeon, Feral Pigeon, and Collared Dove, Foxes, Rats, and Rabbits ......

Seems wierd to us "Over the pond" bunch, as we get to shoot them all year round There again, there aren't as many people shooting them over here, so we hardly make a dent in the population, plus we are only allowed mouth calls, no electronic calls (Although some do use them, albeit illegally). We are allowed whirly's, floaters, flappers, peckers, and any other type of decoy, so long as it isn't a live bird (Shot ones or plastic are okay).

Hi Raymond, we don't put a dent in them either.

Many years ago there was no crow season in the USA. You could hunt them anytime.

Bob, seems like you have the same problem with do gooders we have over here. Used to be a reasonable amount of badger here, but in 77 it was forbidden to hunt them, now they are everywhere and carrying Bovine TB, so now there's a panic and people are calling for a cull of them by about 80% LOL Ducks and Geese, every year the species we can legally hunt gets smaller. They brought in large amounts of raptors, now we have a large raptor probem, same with cormorants, protected, and now fisheries are going bankrupt

Our first phase kicks off on June 6, 2012 to July 28, 2012–Wednesday,Friday and Saturday of each week plus,Independence Day. Then it goes out till they come out in July and they tell us when it comes back in, but normally it goes from August till the end of February. Our regs change every July.

Only a few more days till boom, boom, boom. YA!

Seems like a bit of a butt ache LOL. At least our seasons don't usually change (Wildfowl, game, deer), and the rest including wild boar is classed as vermin, and open season all year

Crows are Federally regulated here in the US. They allow a 124 day season on them. It is up to each state to determine when that season occurs. Depending on the State, it could be a split-season or it could be 124 days straight through. The State sets daily limits as well.

No limits on them here either Vermin is VERMIN, and I'm out at the moment most days, getup at 02:00, set up on the field for first light around 04:30, and then straight though til 13:00 or 15:00, sometimes 18:00 hrs in the afternoon.
Generally I'll go every second day, but sometimes I will go 4-5 days in a row if the farmers request it. Barley is £ 200.00+ a ton at the moment, and the birds get through a ton a day on a field even when the flock is small (Large flocks can strip a field bare in half a morning), plus they steal animal feed too, and spred diseases like Bovine TBC amongst other serious illnesses.
So at the moment it's corvids and pigeons all the way, with the odd fox thrown in for good measure. Come September, and the game and wildfowling (Ducks and Geese) season will start, and then the corvids and pigeons are just for days when it's too bright and dry to go wildfowling, and not much around on the game front either.

yep, we have no bag limit on them either, no closed season either. BUT, that said, Starlings and Sparrows have been removed from the "General Licence" http://www.sacs.org.uk/pigeons-vermin-c9.html We are allowed to shoot from ONE HOUR BEFORE sunrise till ONE HOUR AFTER sunset, and NEVER on Sundays. CHRISTMAS DAY funnily enough we ARE allowed to shoot (Unless it falls on a Sunday), but most people never do, prefering to wait for Boxing Day (Day after Chrismas) instead. Jays and Ravens are also the only corvids that ARE NOT on the General Licence and may NEVER be shot. Each area of the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland), has it's own firearms reguations, and it's own General Licence, although they are very similar, there are some differences in species allowed on General Licence, and also on types of weapons and amounts of ammo held per weapon.

Alabama lets the hunter decide which 124 days he wants to hunt crows.

As long as he doesn't hunt more than 124 days per year, he's ok. But he can pick which 124 out of 365 he wants to hunt.

As many times as I've mentioned the logic of this to our NCWRC, I've gotten incredulous looks and then when pressed, the argument that the Feds will not allow that.

Which is obviously bs - if Alabama uses that system, what is to stop the great state of North Carolina from using it?

The crow seasons started not as a result of "do gooder" groups but as a consequence of a migratory bird agreement between Canada, USA, & Mexico. Crows being migratory all of a sudden got regulated !!!! Where I am, we have a seven month season 1 Sept - 31 Mar, no limits, and can hunt them off season to stop property destruction or crop destruction.

At the moment they have young, and have switched from grain to grubs and insects, and hence are getting onto the silage fields and spreading their muck into the winter feed of the cattle, so have to be moved too. Due to our present heat wave, they are only flying very early mornings and late evenings, so I get up at 02:00, am set up on the field about 04:00 now, shoot till about 10:00, then home, a quick brew and a bite, thn a shower and a snooze for an hour after cleaning the gun and refilling the cartrige bag and whirly batteries. Then back on the field at 16:00, and shoot till about 22:00. Then home and another bite, drink, shower, and off to bed for an hour again. LONG DAYS LOL

Have to remember to take a camera with me. Weather just changed from sun baked to continuous rain, and forecast is the same for at least Thursday and Friday. Will do my new local permission tomorrow, and see how that goes I think
