On Friday, Texas Matt and I made a first time visit to a new property he obtained that requested our free crow control services. We dropped 32 crows on this morning and at 1:30 in the afternoon, just before leaving we tried our fourth and final varmint calling stand of the day. The first 3 were failures but this stand produced our first ever daylight raccoon double.
Texas Matt's was almost twice as big as my raccoon, but I only took one shot. Of course mine had bolted into the open and I dropped it with a head shot at 7 paces! Matt's stayed in heavy cover and he had to put a burst into it. We were both limited to our Maxus "Metroguns" because of this landowners "shotgun only" rule. I wish I could have dispatched mine with my S&W 627 and a 110 grain XTP. That would have been extra professional!
