We shot a peacan orchard this morning and picked up 45.. Only two made it to the woods that will probably not make it thru the night.. Only had a few call shy birds and most decoyed well.. Had some very long shots from very high. up. I shot #6's 1 1/4 oz(Remington Shur Shot) / my partner shot #5's 1 3/8oz (Kents)..... More birds should move into the area in a few more weeks as the nuts begin to crack open..

Nice job! And I love my Maxus like you probably do, too!
I suggest you might try some high end target shells from Remington or Winchester in 7.5's or 8's such as their sporting clay versions. The lessened recoil will pay dividends as your crow results grow as more crow show up. Our buddy Skip did a lot of patterning work and determined those shells work great out to 50 yards, even with a IC or LM choke.
We used the shoot the 1 1/2 ounce Kent 6's at 1425FPS and labeled them "Murder Inc." because they killed so well at both ends!
Them are some pretty hefty loads you fellas are using there Mark. Few seasons ago I purchase a couple flats of Remington Shur Shot 7 1/2's and I liked them a lot. The store was blowing them out for just a few buck/flat more than promo shells. Those Shur Shot shells were 1 1/8th ounce loads at 1255 fps which I found rather stiff for my crow hunting requirements. Thanks for sharing and keep posting more dead crows

With regards to shot I have found what works well for me. ( Remington #6 1 1/4 oz at 1220 fps) I've tried a lot of others and for what we do, how we do what we do and our conditions, these work the best. My shooting partner likes the #5's 1 3/8oz and you can bet out to 70 yds that bird will be hit... He is somewhat "connected" so his wallet is not so impacted.... At present, I'm sitting on 17 flats of number 6's and that should last a while.. Luck to everyone finding their best performing loads...
