Brand new action photos from last weeks hunt.

These are some of the best action photos that I have captured on film to date.

The first set of photos is of a morning flyway shoot.

The second set is where you can see plenty of hedge rows,   also a morning hunt close to some feeding fields.

Hope you guys enjoy them.

Here are a few more photos from last week. I couldn't fit them all on the first thread.

Note the emptys stuck in the tumble weeds!

Hi Elk,

Dick & I together shot a little over 2,000 crows in 7 hunting days. All with trap loads in 7 1/2's and 8's.

I like to try and capture on digital what we crow hunters see everyday in the field. I like to capture the feeling of being there.

It took some will power getting some of those photos!

Talk to you soon.

Hi Greg,

If you study all those photos there are several where you can see the empty hull flying out of the reciever of Dick's Beretta. Those photos cost me a lot of crows! LOL.

The first time I saw these I didn't even see Dick in front of the Inbound birds. Those are great photos. The birds have no idea Dick is even there!! Love it.

Hi Greg,

I have that happen as well on other peoples photos, sometimes you don't see it all the first time around. I find this happens on video tape as well.

It's 16 degrees outside right now, I am just scouting this morning in a nice warm pickup! Going to watch in the afternoon, have a nice southerly breeze of 10 to 20 MPH. If something sets up right I will get in somewhere and see if I can't have a go at them this afternoon. I will be hunting solo today.

Hello Jason,

How are things "Down Under"

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos, I took great pains trying to capture the action.

Hi Greg,

I had a nice flyway shoot that afternoon with a southerly breeze of 10 to 20 MPH. Killed 183 crows in just under 2 1/2 hours. It was 36 degrees out with a nice blue sky. It lasted from 2:30 P.M. to 4:55 P.M. that day. I was setup 3 miles from the roost.

I'm waiting for the wind to turn to the northwest tomorrow, if it does the crows will be on my terms wind wise. There is a pretty good flyway coming from the south southwest that is going to get a real education if I get the right conditions. They will have to quarter the wind which means the sound of the shooting will get blown off. I usually get good shoots when I can get a 10 to 20 MPH breeze. Now it's just wait and see if the weather man knows what he is talking about.

Wonderful pics, Bob.

Quick question.... do you hunt under a flyway or off to the side of one???

Hello Pat,

If it's breezy I position myself right where they come through because they are strung out in a breeze. Thats why I wait until conditions are in my favor not theirs. On days when the winds are calm they come in mobs and you educate to many of them on those types of days. On a typical flyway shoot out here you start to get some action anywhere from 12:30 P.M. on. It builds as the hours roll on. By 3:00 P.M. you should be shooting small groups every couple of minutes, by 4: P.M. and later it can get pretty wild where you are killing 6 to 8 a minute during the last hour if your in the right spot, thats as fast as you can keep the gun loaded. Now sometimes the weather can come into play as to when they start to really move. Some days when it's nice outside and you still have a good breeze they move later because it's still nice outside. You may not get any shooting to speak of until 3:30 P.M. on those types of days.

It's supposed to be nasty outside tomorrow so they will move a lot sooner, I'm hoping from 12:30 P.M. on, if they do I will get a good shoot.

Have a safe Christmas Pat.

Bob A.
