We can’t tolerate this anymore. These tragedies must end. And to end them, we must change. ...
If there’s even one step we can take to save another child or another parent or another town from the grief that’s visited Tucson and Aurora and Oak Creek and Newtown and communities from Columbine to Blacksburg before that, then surely we have an obligation to try.
In the coming weeks, I’ll use whatever power this office holds...
Are we really prepared to say that we’re powerless in the face of such carnage, that the politics are too hard?
Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?
Wow the media is really going crazy with new gun control hysteria.
I stopped in my two local gun dealer's stores and dropped off some NCPHA cards today.
They were packed full of customers. I could hardly get in. One had an on-duty cop sitting in his squad car across the street, watching.
What do you think Obama will try first? An executive order banning Bushmasters? All AR-style rifles? Multi-capacity magazines?
How about a large federal surcharge on ammo, say a buck a round?
Where will it stop? Great Britain forced all citizens to turn in their firearms, can Obama do that to us?
I sense a big change coming. He's already moved us away from our Founder's vision for our great country, towards socialism.
Now with the political capital he's banked, along with the international outcry over our "rabid gun-crazed society" (have you read some of the foreign press?), will he use this tragedy to "fundamentally transform America?"
Since the Constitution doesn't mean anything to this guy, he will captialize on this tragedy by breaking it. It is just a horrible thing that happened and I wonder if it would have been different if someone at the school had a concealed carry.
You know it would have been different at any of these recent murders, had one or more persons been armed and trained--especially schools, where the armed teacher(s) or administrator(s) would hopefully be motivated to protect themselves of course, but mainly their duty to protect "their" kids.
There will never be a shortage of evil bastards; calculating or complete lunatics. But, if schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, were no longer "Mass-Murder Empowerment Zones," the SOBs would look for a soft target elswhere.
End of Message.

The truly sad part of the picture of POTUS... is his faked sorrow..expressed by his faked tear..Anyone who say this live.. will probably agree. There was no tear..to wipe away. Romney lost the election to free cell phones and birth control pills..and Romney was probably one of the best, most successful and moral men to ever seek the office.. And we have not yet begun to hear the repercussions to the God-awful Sandy Hook tragedy...
Rather like the infamous film clip of Bubba walking away from Ron Brown's funeral "smoking and jokin'", seeing the camera, then changing his expression to serious--wiping fake tears away, without breaking a stride.
I cannot suffer liars. They steal the Truth.

Do you guys have any laws on gun storage? Would that not be an agreeable and practical step? It would not touch your 2nd amendment and still promote safety. With the number of handguns around a ban would be just rediculous!
We have 50+ sets of laws regarding storage and handling ranging from none to ridiculous. Where I live (Michigan) adult owners are liable if a minor is able to gain access to a firearm, hence the free trigger locks found at most police stations. We don't want a federal law on the same, because whatever the feds gain hold of becomes #$&@#$%*&-up (SNAFUBAR).
Guys & gals, forget the hunting stuff--this is their media ploy. This is about the Constitution. Think about it. They (you know who they are--any government of leftists, progressives, statists, communists, totalitarians of all stripes) want a disarmed citizenry. Then, we are sooooo compliant.

Some Canadian web sites lit right up with gun control talk on this side of the border. Talk of re-instituting our long gun registry (which never saved one life) .
And look at Norway, strict gun control and still someone goes after school kids (I think 87 dead in that spree).
They are going to play this tragedy to the fullest, It's a tragedy that could not of been delt with under the standards we have set in place. Most of these soft, unprotected areas are hit by these lunatics that have mental issues that the family has tried for years to get help for these mentally incompetent idividuals. They can totally ban ever gun in the world and the tragedies will not stop.
My opinion would be to advertise to have more people aquire concealment permits and offer free training for self defense and public defense. I personally wouldn't hesitate to step in and eliminate the problem wether it be at a corner gas station, at the mall or any other place these lunatics feel safe to carry out their deeds. Have the school, college, shopping mall sellect certain employees and all maintance personel be trained in firearm defence to counter react to these single handed bastards. They could have locked up gun and electrical stun devices located throughout the facillity.
The Obama Group is so anti-gun we all will lose a lot of our gun rights here shortly. Here in Washington State they are talking about having a gun control bill innitative for the next election in two years. Washington State with it's six and a half million people want to step into California's foot steps. Who knows what the right answer is, But in my oppinion taking our gun rights away isn't the way to go.

I don't know what the answer is guy's As you all know I live in one of the most restricted states in the union. A federal judge just told the state of Illinois that its concealed weapons ban is unconstitutional. He ordered our state to legalize concealed carry. Our lawmakers now have 180 days to provide rules and regs on concealed carry. If they do not have the guidelines by the 180 day limit then anyone with a FOID card will be leagal to carry a concealed weapon. Needless to say they are scrambling to get the regs in place. I would like to meet this judge he must push a wheel barrel in front of him to carry his sack. Being a law enforcement officer since 1987 I have been legal to carry concealed. I have never given it much thought. The sandy hook shooting kept me up all night last Friday. I could only think of the parents and how they must feel wondering what the last thoughts of those babies were. Fake tear? Maybe, but the man is a Parent and any human that has a heartbeat and a soul has to feel some pain for these people. The law abiding gun owner will be the only one that will pay whatever the gubment decides. But isn't that the way it always is??? I hope when the NRA makes thier statement in the morning that it will be a well thought out statement and makes good sense. Everybody on this site that has been a member for more than 3 months knows how I feel about our current President. I'm telling you this GOES BEYOND POLITICS. This kind of thing happens in third world countries all the time but they dont have any media. Most school districts around here cant even afford paper or books Let alone a full time security guard. Are we no better than these third world maggotts that can't even feed themselves. Something has got to be done!!!!! 20 babies!!!! 20 of em. I can only pray for the parents and pray that they dont infringe on our rights to the point that we cannot protect our own lives and property and not be able to have the freedom to pursue or sport. I feel we are gonna have to bend over and take it again, this time its gonna really hurt. When 911 hapened I left work and went right to the schools my boys were in and brought them home, I kept them home for 2 more days until I felt it was safe for them to go back. The only reason that I live is for my boys. I can not even attemp to imagine what those parents are going thru, how totally helpless they feel, This goes way past Obama, What do you think Romney would do if he would have been elected??? Somthing has got to give!!!!! And we will be giving it like it or not
Evil exists. It always will. If you (all of you, not only Chip) are of the Christian faith, then you have the answers already as to why this happened. If you don't and want to hear them, I can connect you to a source that can explain. PM me. My heart breaks over these incidents also.
Here on earth in the U.S., amidst all the evil, we are given government to protect the innocent from evil. When that government goes bad, the people have the obligation to change it; without violence if possible. The Constitution*, which is the only document of its kind in recorded history stems from political thought over 5000 years. The Founders took this into consideration when they wrote it and added the Amendments. Not perfect, but they knew humans are not, as well. Only God is. Thus, If we permit (some) evil members of government to take away the only means of resistance, firearms, then we no longer deserve to keep the Consititution. We become simply another blip on the historical parade of failed nations.
I do not know why evil occurs. I know from who is originates and He will not win. In the mean time, we must remain firm in our resolve to not let evil win. The sadness surrounding these deaths, as with those that preceeded in other killings--in this country or others--is real. I weep for them as well. If we let the gun-grbbers have their way, we are on the road to becoming a third-world country, and the last one to go down, at that.
*I did not forget the Declaration and its antecedents.
