Looking for Crow Decoys
Permalink

Anyone know where to order full body decoys in Canada? I am having a hard time trying to find more decoys due to crow hunting is not a very popular thing around here. The big stores do get some but maybe a dozen at a time and the first person looking buys the whole lot. Thanks...Steve

I ordered a half dozen Boondockers from the U.S. IMO they are the best thing to happen to crow hunting since the development of the e-caller. But I still feel the best crow deeks to be dead crows themselves. Biodegradable too.

This is only a suggestion, but have you considered making them? If you have access to a saber saw and drill, you can make three dimensional decoys using an old but successful design found in the September, 1936 Popular Science. Google "Silhouette Crow decoys 1936 Popular Science" and you'll find the plans.

1/4" plywood, some shish kabob skewers (my addition), glue, flat black paint and you're in business. Fun to make (good therapy) and they're sturdy. I used the skewers to make 1" dowels, using three dowels per decoy to pin and secure the wings through the body to each other, making the joint stronger so the wings don't break off. The "feet" are 2" black binder clips--the largest available. Clip them to the belly and the bird stands up. fold the two feet up for storage or remove them for hanging. You can also clip them to bushes, corn stalks, or tree branches. Find the center of gravity and drill a second small hole on its back to use for hanging on a tree brach using a piece of wire.  You can also use the body only for a simple silhouette. I have six of these to mix in with the others. Works for me and the crows. Also cheap.

Thank you for the homemade crow plans but I would prefer to purchase the decoys. I don't have the time to make my own and when I do have spare time I am out hunting. Can anyone provide a link to a place where I can order decoys that won't hammer me in shipping costs to ontario Canada. Thanks...Steve

I don't know how it would all come together.....
But could you order some from Bass Pro and have it delivered to the Canadian store in Vaughn?
