Been on this fourm looking around for a couple years and finally decided to Join. 

We have a great crow population in my area of around 150,000- 180,000 crows for half of the year and its great to get out and knock a bunch of them down.

I see there is alot of great advice on here and im always ready to learn new things on these great birds that we love to hate.

Im taking a couple newbies to crow hunting out in the am and Im hoping to have them hooked. 

I have been out 3 times so far this year alone and have managed 72 crows, 94, and 39. at each stand. Still not as good as Bob and some of the guys from here but my personal best last year was 242 evening hunt that I did.

Good Luck tomorrow, You are doing something right with the number of crows you put down. If you can please take some pictures to post on here after tomorrows hunt. Do you have snow on the ground? Last year when you got the 242 crows was you hunting alone? Pat

Highlander- The evening that I shot the 242 I was the only shooter but i brought the Mrs with me just so she could watch and hand me shells to get my gun loaded faster. It seemed like the more crows that I shot the faster the other ones came in.
We have some snow on the ground here but a warm up in our forecast will change that.
I will try to remember to take some pics and see what I can get posted on here.

Those are some fantastic numbers you've generated!  

And most interesting and noteworthy is your bride who came to "watch and hand you shells". She's a good 'un, for sure.

You need to share with us your tactics, calling technology, decoys, shotgun, shells, etc.!

There never used to be much. But slowly some guys are starting to go out and get a few. I've taken many people out and they are always hooked. I just wish that Americans could shoot them here. I'm always having them ask me if they can shoot them while we are duck hunting.

Phil- My girl is a good one for sure. Hates me killing anything but crows. That day she came out it was so cold and windy, but she never once complained.

I have about 12 different locations that I hunt these birds. Most I have built blinds at and they have been the for years. Others are just tree row set ups or hiding down in a ditch. I have a fox pro fx3 with a external horn speaker that I can plug in as we'll as countless decoys, motion crows, buster II's etc. I have tried most setups from staging crows to feeding on a gut pile. I ever dyed a sheet red and thru it on the ground with a old fur coat. Surprisingly the best luck that I seem to have is with no decoys out at all or very few. Normally the dead crows become my decoys throughout the hunt. Our hunts can last for maybe 45mins in the am to close to 4 hrs in afternoons. Weather plays a big role here and I'm always looking at the forecast. I love hunting in a strong wind as when the come in they are very low.
My gun of choice is my xtrema 2. For shells I'm not to fussy. 7.5 normally but in desperate times I have shot 6's or 4's. a flat of 250 shells costs me at $67.00.

Went out this am. A buddy asked to bring a friend and the guy never showed up so he was late getting to my place. By the time we got to our stand the crows have been flying for a while. Managed to knock down 31 in about 25-30 mins of shooting. the old saying is" should of had more if he could shoot" lol. Only picked up 27 as 4 were stuck in the cedar trees. Pic will be posted as soon as it gets emailed to me.

Hi Kyle,

Where abouts are you? I'm in the Guelph area and hunt the Campbellville area for crows, coyote, and deer. We have a great forecast for crows coming. We went from -13c to a high of +10 towards the end of the week. Lots of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday no rain and I will be out crow hunting. I will take some pictures and post them after the Monday hunt.

Good work on those crows.

I am also very saddened by the Canadian regulations that do not allow non-residents to hunt crows. I am from Michigan and I KNOW I would be in Ontario a few times each fall/winter chasing your crows if I was allowed.

I just dont get it...I can shoot just about anything else in your country...ducks, deer, caribou, moose, rabbits, hell even a gosh-dang polar bear...but a fella cant hunt crows. Again, I just dont get it.

Yes it is a joke. I have sent letters to the MNR about changing that but I never get anywhere.

Hey I'm also in Ontario, Brantford to be exact.  Originally from london, so I know chatham and have always wanted to get there to hunt some crows.  Closest population around here thats close to Chathams is woodstock.  I'm always up for a drive to shoot some crows.  I have a few motion decoys and regular decoys as well, along with my foxpro.  Happy Hunting guys!!

I have had my bride out in my boat duck hunting and she endured it and it was cold here in Texas and for that I am grateful (she produced three fine Texan sons!) but she hasn't any interest in crow shooting although she is remarkably tolerant of my antics.  Marriage is a wonderful miracle!!!

killerky - just below the text box where you type your message, there are three buttons: "Show Preview", "Hide Preview", and "Attach Image(s)". Just click the "Attach Image(s)" button, navigate to wherever your pictures are on your computer that you want to upload, double click that image and it should automatically add it below the "Attach Image(s)" button. You can either leave it there so that it will be a small picture at the bottom of your post (much like Bob A. usually does), or you can hit the "[insert]" button next to that image to add it into the post as a larger image.

That's how mine is set up anyways. You don't need to host the image on any other site for it to work here. Hopefully this is pretty straight forward.
