Shot a spot this morning that we have had 3 busted hunt on in the past. We were a little apprehensive to say the least but went ahead and hunted it anyway after scouting and finding birds there again. We managed 114 this morning and then picked up another 6 this afternoon on a hunt that did not turn out like we planned. Oh well, win some, lose some.
Here are a couple of pics of the place we shot this afternoon. I saw this idea on here a year or so ago and decided to give it a try. I could not find the instructions again so I just made up something with a coat hanger. They are dead birds form this mornings hunt. We did the same thing this morning with birds I killed yesterday afternoon. The birds decoy very well to these.
Pretty convincing me thinks!!

Mike, How is the crow placed into the one in your pic? The ones I made have hoops from the legs to fit into and a point that stick into the bottom of the head to hold it up right.

I cut axhardwood stick that is about 3/8" in diameter and about 16" long. Sharpen both ends with your jack-knife. Stick one end up the crow's bunghole and into his neck and into the bottom of his skull. Then "plant" him by sticking other end into the ground.
With my knife I can cut and sharpen a dozen of these sticks in about 3 minutes.

This is what I came up with based on memory. I think the original ones were made for Magpie in Europe somewhere. The point goes into the bottom of the head, the cradle holds the breast and the hoops are for the legs. I made the hoops by turning them around a 3/4" piece of PVC. Use the whole hanger. Straighten out the hook and cut the long bottom piece in half.
