New kit

So, as you all know I finally (after much trial and tribulation) managed to get my Primos Alpha Dogg from the states, and used it Wednesday night foxing for its premier.

it did the job well, and we saw about 10 foxes, but they wouldn't commit to an area of safe shooting, and those that did a battery connection on the lamp being wobbly chased them away smartly

BUT, that said, I still managed to nail two, and hence it proves the caller works well.

unfortunately it was about minus 3, a cold (very cold) wind was blowing, and as it had rained in the morning, the ground was wet and muddy. I had forgotten my groundsheet, so ended up lying in it, so got back frozen and soaked and muddy.

decided I needed some new kit, so got four GELERT charcoal powered hand warmers, and one in each pocket should keep me a bit warmer. Also ordered 48 extra sticks, so plenty of supply for a while LOL

decided maybe a groundsheet is a bit noisy too, so ordered a small wooden beach chair, and that will be ideal for use with the 23" bipod I have on the rifle biggrin

i might just paint it green, black, or brown, haven't decided yet

Sounds like a needed upgrade. This is what I got for a chair when I was coyote hunting. It's so comfortable that I use it every year for deer hunting and occasionally for turkey hunting (although I like to be more mobile and so I rarely bring it along). It's pretty lightweight, folds up into a tube shape with a carry strap, and has worked so far (I've had it for 4 or 5 years now).

Yep, looked at those too, but saw it had those plastic feet, and had lots of chairs where plastic feet and prop rivet swivels break or come apart, and hence I discounted it.no

I had read some reviews where people had some issue with the rivets coming out and the chair breaking, but I'm a smaller guy and weight wouldn't be an issue. So far its worked well, but that wooden chair that you got looks just as good

I sprayed it brown at the weekend, now just got to add some black and green stripes to break the shape of it somewhat

When you say minus 3 degrees, you must be talking about Celsius, right? If it was minus 3 degrees F, you wouldn't have been laying in water or mud. Just ice. :)
