Scout Bird?

I was wondering if there such a thing as a scout bird when hunting crows. I read some article that says not to shoot the first bird because no other birds will come in. The article discribes a scout bird as a crow that flies over your area and checks things out. I am new and don't want to make a mistake by shooting the scout bird, if it is real.

Thanks

Skeetshooter always says "Awww, you don't have to kill that first one, it want matter. BUT, We are gonna kill 'em anyway!

The funny thing is, that first on never seems to make it out alive.

Seems like a lot of those articles in magazines are written by folks who believe all those folk-tales about crow hunting and have little actual crow hunting experience.

I remember asking this exact question on here years ago. I used to let that first one live and never saw another crow within range that day. Kill that first one, then he can't go back and tell the rest where you are. :)

Shoot every crow that comes within decent shotgun range. Refrain from "reaching" or "sky-busting" as this educated more crows than are killed. And may the Gods shine on you and have every crow arrive in an orderly mannersmile

Rule for Scout Crow: Do NOT shoot at the Scout Crow, kill the Scout Crow IF it presents a high probability killing shot!
