The spot that produces the best is in the woods. I have so much trouble trying to get a shot through the trees its unreal. Wondering if I can make a blind and put my decoys right around me. So I will get more straight up shots. what do you think?

Trees really make things difficult for sure. If you can find a small clearing or opening in the canopy, such as by a dead fall, that may give you the extra room for shots. Otherwise find a field edge near that area and call loudly. The good thing about crows is they seem to not mind traveling a reasonable distance for food or a fight.

CCharles and I have had pretty good luck hunting in trees. We use one decoy with the caller next to playing crow in distress. They comexright down through the branches looking to defend their buddy.

I have my best hunts deep in the woods, now. The best thing to come from Hurricane Sandy was the amount of huge trees that came down with leaves still on them. Great cover and the crows need to come low to find out what's going on. All you need is one good size tree to come down and it opens up some great shooting lanes.

That's something I am going to have to try. Even with a bit of a clearing in the woods I can never seem to bring them down close enough for a shot. Thanks. Went out this morning for a bit of run and gun and had quite a few come in, at least for this area and time of year, but they would just not commit. This just might help and does not add a lot of extra equipment.

When we did the run and gun, we took ATV's down a powerline. We would stop every half mile or so. Drive the 4 wheelers under some branches to hide them. Took one decoy and my FoxPro.  Stick the decoy next to the caller, blast wounded crow sound, shoot a couple, jump back on the ATV's and repeat.

We do most of our RNG in the woods. The crows seem to come in better for us in the woods rather than on the edges of fields. When they come over, they are always looking for the caller. Hunting in hardwoods is not too bad to shoot up through the trees... Pines\cedars are tough though. If hunting in pines, the shorter the better.

Anyone ever used one of those motion balls on the ground with a wounded crow sound? If they seen it rolling around, I would think that could be deadly.
