I don't get around like I used to.  I used to carry my decoys, electric caller, shotgun shells, etc. in a good sized backpack, and carried my Rem. Mod. 1100 and Mossberg Mod. 640 .22 mag. on slings.  Sometimes I had to hike over a quarter mile to get to my blind in the best part of the flyway.  Now that my knees have corroded up like the terminal on a battery, I need something to ride on and haul equipment.  The cost of an ATV is prohibitive on a fixed (broke) income, so I began to look for an alternative.  I've got a riding mower with a small utility cart, and it gets pretty good traction, even in the wet.  I can load that puppy up with more gear than I normally carry, and when I get to my blind, I can cover the whole rig with a camoflage tarp and tree limbs to keep those *&%#$@^%^%$$!! crows from making out anything man made.  Using a 4 wheel drive truck is great for hauling, but it's pretty difficult to make it look like part of the landscape.  I guess I'll hunt them with a motorized wheelchair someday, but until then, I've got a ride!

Hi C187,

Adapt, improvise and overcome...  That sounds like a very workable plan for you.

I love your Heckle and Jeckle icon...  Genuis!

Regards,

There is a local guy who rides his lawn mower around town a bit. He took the mower deck off for more clearance.

In big bold letters like the kind you would use on a mailbox, he stenciled "Handi Capperson" on the side of his John Deere mower. Classic! I love seeing that fella go about his business. He parks it in the handicapped parking spots.

Hi Jason,

Here is a story about riding mower transportation for you.  George Jones, the recently passed away country singer great, lost his driver's license on a DUI.  It is said he rode his lawn mower down to the liqour store to stock up!

Regards,
