"The Summertime Blues",  Eddie Cochran, 1958.

Remember that one?  Some of us "senior" crow hunters do!

If you have the summertime blues, I have a cure for it! Pay attention: get off your ass, stop watching asinine ball games, grab 'ol betsy, or what ever her name is, and head to freshly planted corn fields! Relief tonic from the blues is between the corn rows, and you could be indulging in this delicious elixir! The after effect is most enjoyable too! It gives you a memorable hangover!

What tonic ? Crow shooting dummy! Cures everything but a broken heart.

I don't normally hunt in warm weather, but a farmer called me a few days ago, and reported black thieves were robbing his autumn corn harvest. Thieves that fly. Told him I'd be in the cornfield Friday morning, about 5:00 AM. And I was there, and set up before daylight. Brother, was it humid! By 9:00 AM, my clothes were simply wet. But being stubborn, I was'nt going anywhere until I had made some of those thieves pay!

The corn was already about 6" high, but the crows were still digging in it. By about 10:00 AM, I had 26 on the ground, and scored 83.9 % on my shots.

Twenty-six is'nt a great score, but factualy, there were not many crows in the area. I believe the farmer over-played the urgency of the situation.

So if you have the summertime blues, take a dose of Crow Tonic...it'll make you giggle. Everyone will wonder what you have been up to!

I'll try to attach some pics..hope this works.. I'm a computer Neanderthal !!!!

Hi Ken,

I walked into a pool playing joint last night at 10.00 P.M. and nobody was playing. Two young guys were just sitting there so I asked them if they felt like banging some balls. They both had there own cues with them. They said they only play for money so I said how much? They said 5 bucks a rack so I said rack em up. I took 50 bucks off one of them and 30 bucks off the other one. I bough them both a drink at the end when the joint closed at 1:30 A.M. This is how I cure the summer time blues.

Hi Honk,

I'm not a big team sports kind of a guy, I favor mono a mono, one on one. These two young guys were good players it's just when they made a mistake I took full advantage of it on the pool table. It's a game of who can get the upper hand first! Kind of like hunting crows where you always want the upper hand (being in the right spot with the right wind) when ever you go hunting.

The first set we played a race to five which means the first guy to get five games wins. So, in the first set I won four games to my opponents one game so he paid me 20 bucks. The next set we raced to 3 games for 10 bucks, I lost and paid his friend 10 bucks. After that I never lost a game all night long to the both of them. Even though I was ahead "and playing with their money" I did not coast or slack off, you have to stay focused same as in making a good shot on a bird in mid air.

When I can smell coolness in the air my interests change from pool to crows. Keeps me well rounded doing both! I love high runs weather it's billiard balls or crows!

Talk with ya soon Jason.
