Putting calls into a Hellfire
Permalink

Hi all...I just bought a new Foxpro Hellfire last sunday...impressed with the volume it puts out. It only has 4 crow sounds programed into it, and so far they don`t seem to be as effective as the JS sounds in my old caller. From what I read in manual there is room for 200 sounds in the Hellfire, it comes with only 75. My computer skills are limited, I was hoping to find someone who could load some more good calls into this thing for me. I`m in South West Ontario. Is there a good source for free sounds anywere?

Thnx

If your old caller has a USB connection, you should be able to copy them to your PC which then you could transfer to your new Hellfire assuming it has USB as well). If you have cassettes, and you are not tech savy, you could find a friend to copy the JS calls (record them to a sound program) and convert them to .mp3 (most common) to load onto your Hellfire.

Last year, I bought a Primos Alpha Dogg and copied my JS cassettes to my laptop using Roxio and edited the files with the Roxio sound editor. I saved the files and moved them onto my caller rather easily. The biggest drawback is that to record the sounds, you have to play them in real time which, depending on the sound loop of a cassette, can take at least 30 mins per tape. The JS cassettes I have, Crow Sounds Vol 1 & 2, contain looped sound sequences which make the 30 min per side call sounds. Therefore, you may not need to copy the complete 30 min side, just enough to know you have a least one sound loop. Then using the editor program, trim the sound clip down to the unique calling sequence.

I suppose technically, if you have original JS sounds and I have original JS sounds, copyright laws may allow us to share the MP3 that I converted files since we both own the original sounds. I'm talking about laxed copyright and not the "letter of law". PM me here and maybe we can discuss it off line...

Thanks John. My JS caller is one of those small attractors, it just has one port(a 1/8" round plug) were it hooks up to amp. The attractor still works but I`ve had 3 amps die in last year so thought I would try a Foxpro. I always had good luck with the "discovery" and the "crow attack" JS sounds. I wonder if there is a way to get them out of the attractor and into a computer. I might be able to find a computer geek around here who can make it all work. I am also wondering if Foxpro has a Canadian location were they could add more sounds. Dealer I bought the Hellfire from wasn`t very helpful. I was hoping someone with experience in this near here would see my post.

Thanks again...Earl

You can get a 1/8" jack plug cord to go from the JS unit to the line in on the sound card of your PC.

1/8" jack plug male to male

You can record the sounds from through the line in. Check your PC manual to see where the line in is located. Most PC with built in audio usually has a speaker out (1 or 2, L/R), mic in, and line in ports. If your JS unit is mono, you can use a splitter to put sounds to the Left & Right channels of your audio card.

What's your PC make and model? I can try to help you determine the right cable you would need. Also, what's the model of your JS caller?
