So, long day today. Was up at 04:00 loaded the wagon hitched up, bite to eat and a cuppa, then made a flask, and headed off to the field. Got to the farm at 06:15 and was set up on the field at 06:45 First bird appeared at 06:59 and paid the price
Set up first in the corner of three fields, and that was a BIG BIG mistake !!
First 25-26 I shot all landed in the field behind me. Left them there thinking it won't matter, but soon it started to pull the birds away over there. So decided to go have a clear up, and found I couldn't !!! There was a 10 foot wide x 12 foot deep stream/river running along the back, and no bridge to cross anywhere So, packed up and moved 40-50 metres away, and thankfully managed to start dropping some in my field. Managed to recover 42 from the front field, plus the 25-26 on the back field, and also had 5 gliders and 6 runners, so total of over 70 for the morning from 06:45 to 13:00
Yesterday I couldn't hit the field due to heavy rain.
Two days ago I hit this same field of newly sewn winter barley and got just over 40 total.
Today I could have got a lot more, if I had had a second shooter with me. There were pauses of 60-90 minutes with nothing, and then suddenly 20-30 would appear, before going quiet again
