I went to a put and take operation this WE and the guy feeds hogs dog food. He said he has about 500 crows stealing the dog food.. When I looked at the main feeder the droppings were everywhere as evidence of huge numbers.. I could smell the dog food from a distance.. I figured that the crows would need water. So rises the question; do crows "scoop" or "dip" to take water?

A brief note about the crows.net web site. It is a scientific site with valuable information. I do not endorse or represent the ideas on the web site. You will find a petition to stop crow hunting on this site which I am strongly against!

Thank you for the input: Yes scoop might be a better word. I've always used the word ladel for getting fluids like soup etc. and the word scoop for ice cream..
With regards about hunting over dog food: CRF 50 21.43
Depredation order for blackbirds, cowbirds, grackles, crows and magpies.
You do not need a Federal permit to control the species listed in the table if they are committing or about to commit depredations on ornamental or shade trees, agricultural crops, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated in such manner that they are health hazard or other nusiance..

Thank you for the link. I had read it before posting the question... It says they love water and they drink water. I like water too.. I can sip and I can pour water down my throat: )..... In my mind, the question still remains unanswered..Do they dip water to drink or can they sip? Or maybe both...
