AT THIS POINT IN TIME IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE THEN THIS IS THE HOT SET UP IN PART BUT THE MAIN THING IS TO HAVE A BUNCH OF CROWS BUT THERE'S NO REASON NOT TO BE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THIS.
I guess your "Wow" is around the pricing? I have this same model with a few more tapes (JS Crow Vol I & II), JS Predator set (4 cassettes), extra speaker and amplifier/remote. Maybe I can get $500 for mine!
If you check the completed auction listings on Ebay they all sell if in good condition, $75 to $120 range on average. I was simply stunned to see the current high bid. Strange things happen on Ebay, it goes both ways, good deals and bad. A couple of years ago I sold a 10ga Lee Loader, the old sytle in the black and red box, it went for $140 something bucks, made no sense to me but I was happy.
Those JS units were ok in there day but if you need parts for those cassette players you are pretty much out of luck.
I made up two custom cassette (with auto reverse) callers from car stereo's with 80 watt amps and they were close to the volume of the digital callers of today. I made these clear back in 1979 when I was not satisfied with the volume level in the JS callers. I used a 12 volt marine battery to power them.
Hey u guys ever seen the old js callers that ran on 8 d batteries and played the old 45 records??? It had a setting on it so you could play 78 records. I had one and would bet half the members reading this have never heard of or seen a 78 record album. Have no idea where it's at. Probably loaned it to a buddy and never got it back. That was in the early to mid 70's.....

Yep, mine was Wightman Electronics. I don't remember that it only used 8 D's - seemed more like 20 - guess that's the muscle memory of having to carry it all of the time. My Dad or brother carried the loud speaker - those slackers!

I grabbed mine years ago and didn't check the record or something and here are these crows i heard and turned it on and out blared rock and roll well to my surprise the crows started "getting down" as they say...no, I shut that thing off so fast i think my hand went right through it and the rest of the day went fine correcting the situation...
Those JS and Call of the Wild units held 12 D cell batteries. Six for the caller and six for the speaker.
I have a very old vinal 78 record that Bert Popowski sent me in the mid 1970's. It was his very last instructional crow calling record, he even wrote that on the wrapper.
Those Wightman Electronics speakers were outstanding speakers in the 25 watt. I used them for 45 years from 1965 to 2010. The quality was as good or better than the speakers they make today.

I love bidding wars on GunBroker, E-Bay, etc.--when I'm selling.
