I was cutting around my newly planted pecan trees today, knowing turkeys were nesting.. I mowed right over the top of a nest.. dang it. I ended up brushing it up.. I sure hope it works..
Now I know why my friend says he always says he shoots racoons when he's in the field and sees them; because they raid turkey nests (no doubt our adversaries the crow, also). They seem to be completely unprotected.

The hen had the nest well hidden until I started cutting the tall grass, weeds and briars.. I hope the tree limbs I put over it works and she will return.. I went back and put up a trail camera to see what happens.. When I returned I saw two, what looked like foxes, near the edge of the woods.. Long black furry tails and pointed ears.. there are a fair number of crows in the area too..Last year I found this turkey nest while "Bush Hogging" she had it right up against a sewer access i.e. man hole along a sewer right of way..
