Had a good shoot this a.m. We shot some pecans that usally crack early about this time in Sept. according to the Grower. They are still a week away. The Hot part was the temps in area we hunted, 90 at 9 a.m. When we stopped. We still managed to pick up 71 and hurt several mores feelings real bad. Will post pics later. First time we have hunted this early and feel lucky to have to put some on the ground, Grower was happy, wants us back which is good because this was our first time with Him.
Thanks it was a good shoot for us, hope the bandits start cooperating for y'all , sometimes they just don't play fair!
Bob,
We set up to be in the shade but made a rookie mistake and sun got on us at 7:45 a.m. The blinds with no wind turned into a sauna. We got out of the blind at 8:30 and shot uncovered till 9:00. Still had a great time with my Son, by the way that rascal bought me a new Rem. Versamax and gave it to me a week ago, told me He new I was to cheap to buy one (LOL). Gun performed great as did His, not a sales pitch but it's going to be the favorite because of its history.
I am blessed with a great family, my Daughter gave me a Son with her husband and another with my Grandson, so I have 3 now, Wow when you write it down it gives you time to realize what you have been given, Truly in this area I have been given way more than I deserve ! And Thanks He is special as they all are.
Here are the pic's. We also shot another orchard that did not have many pecans, crows were tough to come by. Still picked up 28. Did I mention it was Hot, stopped at 9:00 am.
Thanks for the thumbs up. Felt great to be pulling the trigger again !
M12,
Your so right about the planets lining up ! Had location, crows hadn't been harassed and they cooperated, lot of young birds but as my son said they thump when they hit the ground to! Looking at your avatar, I've got to knock the dust off one of my Mod 12's in the future, they are a killing machine plus they just they just have that style!
