The sayin goes, Somedays you get the bear and Somedays the bear gets you! Well the bear got us today. Shot an orchard that did us well last year, Had hopes of doing well , 3 shooters and 18 killed. Noticed a lot of variables that may have had some impact on the morning.
1. Pecans were green, 2 to 3 wks from cracking. Knew this going in but owner wanted us to try and get a jump on them.
2. Grass was high (2 to 3 ft) usually mowed by now
3. Very cloudy with low pressure ( looked like rain a few times but did not)
4. No game activity, had a lot of days deer hunting where game didn't move. On the 3 hr. ride home saw very few birds flying and only a few crows.
Not making excuses, Crows won! (lol) Just trying to learn and not make same mistakes again. Had a great time with my Brother and my Son, laughed and cut and got to bust a few Crows!
Thanks, we did have a good time. They fired me as Guide (lol) and got on me good. Was hoping to have a pic with 3 digits, this orchard can produce that. Will post pic later.
By the way we cut-up, left the up part out in the post. Don't want y'all to think we're a bunch of rednecks! We do resemble one though.
