Dick & I just finished a 9 day hunt, even with half of those days not being good weather for crow hunting we still shot 1,631 crows. All afternoon flyway shoots, no morning hunts at all.
On our last afternoon the wind was totally wrong for this spot but we shot it anyway because we were out of state, still got 224 crows with the wrong wind. Had the wind been right it would have really been a good shoot.

I have some but I have to have my neighbor transfer them from the memory card on my camera to a file in my computer, I only do this about 3 times a year so I need tech help!
Here is a photo from a hunt in past years that is in a folder.
I told my partner Dick that I should inform any new land owners that I am almost 67 and he is 80 so if they start to fudge on permission I will say we are both on deaths door and don't have much time left, how can they say no to that statement! We both got a good laugh over my bright idea!
It's still fun getting out and meeting new people. On hunts during the afternoon hours Dick & I discuss which restaurant we are going to that evening if things are slow.
Last week Dick & I ventured over 900 miles from Kansas, got some wonderful photos of the Border Patrol with us at the fence that separates us from Mexico! Officer Diaz said when it gets dark it's "Game On" in those parts.
I spoke to this old timer who owned a feed lot in that part of the world if I could hunt some crows? He said no hunting, he did not want his quail shot. I said I just hunt crows. He said "we take care of them" I said "how?" he said " we feed them" I said what do you feed them?" he said "corn" I said do you poison them" he looks at me like I'm nuts and says hell no why would I poison my livestock? Finally when we got our wires uncrossed and he figured out I was hunting crows not cows he said oh crows! Hell just go ahead and shoot all you want! This is the result of two old timers getting together who are both damn near deaf! True story!

For me it's not all about the shooting, it's also the people you meet along the way.
Dick keeps asking me when I am going to buy a new topper for my pickup? It's 41 years old and I say "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" I had an Amish gentleman build that topper for me, custom built in the inside. The outside is skinned up from going through brush and hitting an occasional tree once in a while, but other than that it still works fine. It cost me $ 300.00 to build 41 years ago and it took a whole summer of overtime pay to pay for it when I was working for Cessna Fluid Power in Hutchinson in those days. When you are just getting started with a new wife money is tight so that was a big deal for me in those days. I had that topper on a two wheel drive pickup for three seasons (got stuck all the damn time in that pickup) before I traded it for my first four wheel drive pickup. I may trade trucks over the years but the land owners recognize the topper and know it's me.

There is a small roost not to far from the house so I went out this afternoon. I shot 121 crows from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wind NW 15 to 25 mph 35 degrees outside.

Took a break from watching a nice fire in the fireplace to check the Bulletin Board. I could sit in front of a good fire for hours on end, it's very soothing to me.
