I have a pecan orchard that is reasonably small, but it is the only pecan orchard within 80 miles, we get crows early morning and they stalk and stare from a hillside not to far away across from a river. They start off just 10 or 15, but by mid-morning some 50-250 come in to eat my pecans. The crows are very big and when I shoot them they just get full of bb's. I shoot a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun, I usually use 4 or 6 shot, but lately it hasn't done anything. Any tips for me? Any change of bb size? I need a lot of help because they are all over and it is just me with a 12 gauge shotgun and my worker with a .22. Any tips for me?
Stop missing g? Those shot sizes are perfectly adequate. once you've shot enough you'll recognize where you are aiming,,I used no.5s alot this season here and they were effective..so long as i hit them!
Don't lead them by so much-cut your lead. At close ranges put your bead on their bill and you'll see a difference! Longer ranges naturally lead them further!...usually a bird length and a half should work farther out...
pt, I shoot 7.5s and 8s out of my 12 gauge. It is not your shot size. Either you are not hid well enough to get them in close enough or you are missing. Getting hid GOOD is mandatory.

Not saying that this is your issue, but one of the biggest problems I have seen with "missing" crows, is people shooting at them to far away. You need to keep in mind the range of your shotgun. How far out could you shoot a turkey on the ground.........then add the distance up in the air you are shooting ........need to add the altitude to the distance.
Also, what choke are you using ? If you are struggling to hit them when they are in range, you may want to use a modified choke, and most guy's prefer either 6 shot, or 7 1/2 shot.
