Hey Guru! How did you get those dead crows in the trees like that? They look generally alive-I had to look close. I love the bllnd. As we know around here a permanent blind isn't so "permanent'...people take any material left around such as tarps or anything like that...
On another note if I use somebodys' blind (usually a goose blind or turkey blind) I always leave it the way i found it if i don't add to it but I still leave everything that belongs there...or any changes i made-what ever i added enhancing the blind.
How many crows did you get that day? Well beyond that crowd you stuck in the trees there...the totals...
The first three photos were in the same spot where we had a dozen or more in the trees. Dick & I shot 450 odd crows in that spot that day. We just bent the trees over and put the dead crows in the tops of those trees. When we are done all we do is shake the tree and the dead crows come out very easily.
Here is another photo in a different spot using the same method Tom. Also a few more photos of using my regular decoys.
New here. While a determined crow hunter, not a very successful one. Your "hung" dead crows really look good, my first thought was rubber bands around neck, then around limb, then back around neck. Be worth a try?
Just bend the willows over and stick there necks in the top crotch. When you are done be sure to shake the trees and get them all down or the crows will avoid that spot. Plus it's like leaving a billboard sign up saying "this is a good spot to other hunters"

Loose lips sink ships and so it goes I ran into this goose hunter who shot crows before the season began for waterfowl and I learned everything about that area just by asking questions. but to me he added a "competitor"
' he didn't NEED....how ever his technique is very different from mine so I killed so many myself...happy about it actually and wish i hit it in late September....but he isn't really dedicated about it anyways, just shoots at crows until goose season is in full swing is it...
Most spots I hunt are very remote so the land owners don't care if you leave your empty's where they lay after a hunt. In a few areas where they do care, I pick all of them up.
it's wicked cool to have a blind like that..behind a row of trees like that-I mean how cool is that?
Once there was a row of pine trees and for laughs my partner and i would shoot them as they suddenly appeared over the tops of these low pines. Today there sits a nice shopping mall-we only did that for laughs as by this time there were plenty of crows so we could screw around a little...I wouldn't do that every time however...at this point we had shot a nice quota in the middle of the season but this was close to twenty years plus ago...no we never got any where near close to what any of you shoot on your better days..nothing like that at all...let's just say that we thought getting up to a dozen was pretty good!
Bob, do you ever leave crows on the ground for decoys, or do you pick up the crows and hide them when you have enough crows in trees? Also, is there a frame in the blind in those photos and how long does it take to construct one in the field?
Yes I have a frame welded together with camo on it. I use natural cover to brush up the outside of the blind. I can setup in 10 to 15 minutes depending how fast I want to move.
I don't pick up the dead crows while I am on a hunt until after I am done.
