Another Piebald Pic

Seems like there have been quite a few posts & pictures about piebald crows lately.  I always enjoy everyone's reports so figured I'd share a picture of a piebald shot earlier this year.

Here is my dad holding a "lightly" piebald crow.  I have shot a fair number like this over the years but never one "good enough" in my mind to mount.  This one was given to the coyotes too.

Good hunting,

Hi Jason,

Well played!  I dig your Dad's old school Camo coat, too.

Have a Happy New a Year, my friend!

Regards,

GB, that camo is really close if not the actual pattern WWII Marines used in the Pacific islands. With the earth and winter timber in the background it'll work as well as any. Probably better than some of the newfangled stuff.

Best,

Bob

That camo style is getting hard to find! I have one like that too! Great piebald...go two the same day years ago when that area was good (here)...I didn't mount them...if i had the money to mount a crow that same amount would go to shot gun shells is the way i looked at it...

I remember the days I was able to hunt with my dad. He has since passed. My brother and I still talk about those hunts. Enjoy the time with your dad.

Anyone who had a dad they hunted with...whether living or passed.. cherish that relationship or memory. You are lucky people. Not everyone had such.

Hi Skip,

I agree with your supposition.  Hunting with my Dad is such a warm memory for me.  Having him feed me fresh magazines of red and green box Remington HS .22LR HP's for my Model 56 Winchester Sporter so I could dispatch hordes of dump rats was the start of my lifelong love of predator/varmint hunting.  Walking along the Wabash River and watching him whack rabbits with his WWI vintage 1911, carp with his NM Garand or woodchucks with his old Winchester Model 70 in .22 K-Hornet got me on the right path!

Happy New Year,
