Was having a nice shoot with a lad I invited from pigeon watch, and we're just discussing packing up, when two "irate" men in overalls come up and say our pellets are hitting the house, the cars, and showering them.
Now, I KNOW theIf house is more than 300 metres away (300 metres being the MINIMUM safe distance required by law), but apologised and remained calm anyway, as the slightest thing and before you know it plod is there to take your guns away.
Off they went after a bit, threatening claims for damage, and to call the police etc, and they "have my phone number and car registration" !!
So, being a good neighbour we packed up (which we had been planning to do anyway), and went on our way too.
NOW, just checked on the distance tool on the iPad, and from where we were shooting (and I've given a good twenty metres nearer to him to be "kind" to his house (again, I've given a good twenty metres nearer to our position, in case he was working in the middle of the road), and it's 440 metres still, so no way could pellets have been "dropping" around him, on him, his home, his vehicles !!
Basically, he's just pissed off with us shooting, as he's a townie that moved to the country, and believes in Roald Dahls "Mr Fox" and Beatrix Potters "Rabbit"

When I was growing up we had competition with wildlife...we had a vegetable garden and it seems whatever could would and did get into the garden and killed our pets as well otherwise....it was annoying indeed....people are programmed to be like that..I never hunted until I was about sixteen I think...I didn't really associate with hunters(hunting that is) but the thought of hunting was very interesting.....never looked back...
Anyways this area was full of crows and i asked the farmer for permission but said he "couldn't let me"...I shook his hand and wished him well and his wife-"queen tut" came out and began yelling at him(GEESH!) She carried on but I couldn't make out what she said but i heard her shouting...her husband protesting her attitude but to no avail...I drove off down the road where I found a place (not as good-far from it- to shoot crows).
One thing I noted about anti-hunting tree huggers is they parrot whatever their unfriendly friends of animals league whatever printed no matter how untrue and that is about anything they can think of...(I was told I was "wiping all the deer") and i never went deer hunting in my lIFE!
I hunt rather remote agricultural areas as well. Buildings and settlement are far apart, but I did have one run in with an irate woman that claimed I was shooting toward her house...which was half mile away.
Wardens payed me a visit few days later at home as she photographed my vehicle /plate. I was on an undeveloped municipal road allowance which is public land. Warden said he was in the business for 15 years and he had never come across anyone shooting crows. Was very interested in how its done and numbers. Whole issue stopped there as there was no wrong doing.

So anyways virtually all of these unfriendly animal and tree huggers are virtual liars and they will even write your biography before your very eyes::you only hunt because of your insecurity with women " to put it more palatable for the readership....
One day a friend who never hunted was talking to a friend who was fishing and some tree hugger pulled up in a high priced car and began yelling at them both!!! She was worried about those "precious" animals who are so "helpless, lost, and alone" in the woods is how I interpreted that story!
My farmers are so peeved with this guy, they are SERIOUSLY considering dumping loads of slurry on the Fields surrounding his house, every second day for about a month. He likes the country so much, let him smell and breath it, and enjoy the mosquitoes that come with it LOL

Sounds like the land owners have the same attitude toward this fella as you. That is a good thing. I would keep shooting it if the birds are using it.
I have lost hunting locations because of "subdivision Nancy" neighbors before. The land owners hate the neighbors, dont care if you shoot crows, but choose to shut down hunting to keep the peace. They dont want the trouble/conflict.
Ohh the farmers hate him, but plod (local bear) always come down on the side of the townie.
That said, if it comes to a battle, I have maps, and shot ballistics to prove its impossible what he was claiming :)
And the landowners are already plotting to have their "revenge":)

One of my most potent memories of Bavaria in the early spring is the steaming manure being spread on the fields; making the white snow-covered fields entirely black. I want to see a photo of all the manure being spread around this fellow's house. Schadenfreude to the max!

Down South country bumpkins are referred to as Rednecks. And Rednecks have a certain reputation... To the point where the townies moving to the country are afraid to mess with them!!

These people are odd indeed....they have this thing where they think wildlife is humans or somemthing or mighty mouse off the screen or something? Weird, weird, weird!!!
Trouble is, the plod (Bear) here, are ALWAYS looking for a reason to come and take your guns, and ban you from having any. If I had stood there and argued the point with him instead of being "apologetic" he would have then reported me for "threatening behaviour" as I had a gun, and that would have been that. So at the time, the best is always to be "sheep" and take the insults.
HOWEVER, when my firearms enquiries officer (FEO) comes to check my security because I have a variation pending (for a moderated shotgun), I will make an official report about it.
The last guy who had permission here, argued the point, didn't make an official report, didn't have ballistic charts, a map with distances, or even a witness (he should have filmed it).
And hence plod came and took his guns, and he can NEVER EVER get a firearms licence again because of this.

You guys in Ireland need to start an NRA like we have in the states! Your gun laws are awful for the law abiding citizen! The hunters in the United States have it made because of the NRA, it's a very large union of hunters and target shooters numbering in the millions.

Ohhh, we have several organisations, but most are too busy appearing PC to do any good :(
then plod recently wanted to TREBLE fees for the licences and variations (variation averages 4 1/2 months, renewal anything upto 2 years (during which you can use your guns))
the organisations "knocked them down" to JUST doubling it, with the promise of faster turnaround.
Guess what, the turnaround hasn't changed, just the fees :(
AND no words of protest from the organisations, they just take your money and say thank you (sometimes)
