Must introduce the latest addition to our family, albeit reluctant on my part...Finlay an English Cream Golden Retriever. He has just turned 3 months of age thus I thought I'd sacrifice my Saturday afternoon to introduce him to crow shooting.
He had no real clue what the score was but learned very quickly that when the caller was pressed into action it was then time to get excited. Shotgun reports did not frighten him and he had now problem finding dead crows if I lead the way.
Very well mannered puppy, followed me like a shadow as this was his first outing into the fields. He had no reluctance to picking up dead crows and would cart them around until it was time to move on.
Nice dog. BUT, be careful, if he picks a bird that ISN'T dead, he has a chance of getting pecked, and some crow types (carrion and grey) go for the eyes. So I would get him/her some eye protection at the very least. Saves a lot of vets bills. Also, if pecked, they get shy of birds. Hence I rarely use my dogs for crows / corvids
