We had a pretty big storm roll through on Sunday night and that always gets the crows moving well around here. I watched a really big feed on Monday about 3 concessions away from the roost and decided to get after them on Tuesday.
I set up on the edge of the bush with a layout blind and snow cover. I know a lot of guys on here aren't a fan of hunting out of these style blinds but being a seasoned waterfowl hunter, shooting out of one is almost second nature to me. The birds started flying right after first light and it was consistent shooting all the way until noon when I packed it up for the day. Groups were always small and 90% of the shooting was on singles or pairs which is my favorite pace of shooting. I ended up with 51 on the ground and another 8 that fell in behind me in the deep snow in the woods I couldn't find. Can't wait to get at them again!
Funny how you notice just how much these crows bleed when you hunt over snow. Blood spatter like this was all over the field.

Great hunt and report! Those layout blinds are not for me only because I'm old, with a bad back and not in the best of shape. You are young and able, so have at it... they obviously work well for you!
By the looks of that pile of crows, wet with snow on the leading edges, you made a lot of "Lawn Darts" out of those who came over. Can't decide if I enjoy Lawn Darts or Skywalkers better!

Wonderful hunt Assassin... small groups the ticket to putting lots of crows on the ground. Love hunting crows in the snow too. A spring thing for me here in Manitoba though.

Great results and wonderful photo's! You have your lead right, given the blood on the ground. Crows are a unique creature that give us many ways to engage them. Your use of a laydown blind was obviously very effective.
Assassin: Super report/hunt and what a fine idea... outfitting your decoys with snow shoes! Like Demi a layout blind would sure hamper my TBC and maybe even my ability to get up again!. It is my crow gang's hope that all this cold up north will finally push lots of birds out way! Always enjoy your posts!
Great hunt and pics, and I to am "out" on the layout stuff, to old would probly go to sleep Gettin up would also be an issue. But looks like it fits well with your style! Keep knocking them down. Congrats.
