Lefty, I think you are right, it is the wad. Dick has developed the "very bad habit" of raising his head when getting the shot off. As a result the shot pattern is thrown high as illustrated in photo # 5 as you pointed out.
Hey, in photo # 2 I have a story for you guys. If you can see the trees in the photo that is the spot where Bob Cook (from Mississippi) and I shot 460 on an afternoon flyway shoot back in 1996. There were more trees there back in those days. He wanted to setup in a different spot and I said "we need to be here" and at the end of the hunt that afternoon Bob Cook said to me "Bob I will never doubt you again" he killed a little over 200 crows that afternoon with a 28 gauge using a 3/4 ounce load of # 9 shot. I met Bob Cook in a goose pit in Argentina in 1994.
Bear in mind that Dick is no spring chicken any more, he is 82 years old now. He has some good days, but the bad days are getting to be more often now in recent years.
Ok, Im about to show how green I am again but I dont care, lol.
I thought BH was just being funny about the "disposable decoys".
Now Boba say shoot the string and they all fall out of the trees.
Are you tying the dead to each other and tossing them up in the trees?
If not, someone please explain the "disposable decoy"
Hahahaha
Lefty, you are right, I tie 6 feet of twine between two dead crows and toss them in to the trees. Bert Popowski used to use 3 feet but in my experience with doing it 3 feet is just to short they bunch up where it looks like one gigantic magnum crow! When I am done for the day I just shoot the string pick up my empty's and put my gear back in the pickup and I'm outa there!
