Hey guys!

Years ago in my middle school and high school days I used to be a regular user on here, but it's been a good amount of time since I've been on the forum. Just recently I decided to once again become a registered user. Just wanted to stop in and say hello!

I usually only make it into the field chasing crows a few times each season, but I always enjoyed getting onto here and reading about others hunts and experiences in the field. Looking forward to getting on here more often like I used to!

I made it out a few days ago for my first crow hunt a few days ago and had a fun little solo hunt where I dropped 6. The dehydrator is going and jerky being made as we speak!

Are you making jerky with crow meat? I really hope not, although it might be good haha.

It is crow jerky!  It's really not that bad at all.  You would never know if I didn't tell you.

I handle it just my waterfowl.  I breast the birds and immediately put them in a salt bath for 24-48 hours.  I then either package and freeze, or cook.

When making crow jerky, I butterfly each breast.  I use Hi Mountain Seasonings..season and cure the meat for 24ish hours, dehydrate for a few hours, then you have yourself a tasty little snack!

Ive tried crow meat on the grill 1 time a few months ago. It wasnt bad but it had a light chicken liver taste amd I DONT like chicken livers.
Your crow jerky, I would give another chance. But I doubt Id go thru the trouble myself.

Welcome back to the forum, Mike!  Relative to crow hunting, I guess it can be said "Once you go black, you'll always come back." biggrinbiggrin

But relative to your posted picture, I'd much prefer seeing feathered crow pictures rather than the innards in a dehydrator. Just saying. Maybe it's because I still haven't eaten any yet...

Keep us posted (on the hunting more than the recipes)!

Demi

Anything in jerky form tastes good. I'm sure your bandit bites will be a good treat.

Welcome back!

I'll pass on the crow as well! But good on you for giving that a try.
