one of those days

I have one of the largest farmers in North Ga as a friend. Met him about 10 years ago and he has opened up his property for me to hunt crows. I was not able to hunt the regular fall season still healing from back fusion . I got a call from him the other day, and said the crows are eating his corn after it has just been planted. They pull up the sprouts and also eat the seeds. He said they were doing lots of damage and to come up as soon as you can. His home place is about guess 1000 acres no crows yet. But he told me and gave me directions to a new field. He says he has seen 50 or sixty eating his new corn. I had all my stuff packed in my crow mobile a black Sienna 2000 182000 miles paid for. Not as good as four wheel drive but It has driven thru lots of corn rows and still going. WE have had tons of rain. This was a new field just planted and roads full of deep holes lots of mud. No cover to speak of except a lone tree in the middle of the couple hundred acres. A great place for sentries and enough cover for one shooter and it had a dirt road going right to it. My kind of set up!! However, it poured that evening and killed that spot. The next day he called me said he is planting sun flowers and crows are feasting on that  as well. He did say that there was a hard road to the field so off I went. The only half dry spot was on a hill where he had all his machinery. The only place to set up was in the middle of the tractors. There was no way to set up a feeding situation so I put my rotating crows in the muddy sand turned on Fox pro and the crows and beat it back to my hiding spot in the dark shadow of a big dozer.

Before I got back to my spot and turned around to look up there were about 30 crows going nut but just out of gun range. I really had no way of getting them to come in within shooting range. I was pissed but I stayed and managed to kill about 8 . It was one of those days that the few that were down for IMP CYL too kill I missed.  We all had those days except The Crow Man himself with his 150000. I was pissed  but it was tough shooting. After a hunt I relive the damn easy shots and get pissed . NOw I will have to wait for the weather to dry the fields before getting another chance. Both fields are good for feeding set ups and the one with sentry birds should be terrific.

The farmer was spraying this huge field or fields. He came by asked how had done I told 8 or nine and he was happy. he told me ha has gotten permission from the local game warden for me to hunt because of depredation. He also told me he is planting lots of corn and should have lots of shooting.

If there are any English teachers reading this they have to be pulling their hair . TOO BAD

We have all had those kind of days. Nothing to be ashamed of. Where in north GA?
Me and one of my hunting buddies went out yesterday morning for some coyote hunting on a new property I got permission to hunt. I hit my rabbit distress call and IMMEDIATELY had four crows fly across the field to us. Then it turned into about ten flying and calling over head. Once we were convinced a coyote wasnt going to come to my calling we got up and walked the property a little. Out of no where we had 40-ish fly over us.
We will be going back soon to try our hand at crow hunting that spot!
Good luck next time with your N. GA farm.
