Slow here, I have been loading crow loads. I have a 5 gal bucket( not sure how many) of 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz 12 ga loaded and a 2 gal. bucket(= to 350 shells) of 7/8th oz 20 ga loaded. Now to load my 1 1/8 th oz 10 ga.
We have to wait for a few more weeks to feed the bugs and shoot at A crow. It starts in Maine on 8/1 and in NH on 8/15

Might be enough shells for two or three days of shooting for Bob A. lol.
You are right, at this time of year there is not to much to discuss.
If you fill a 5 gallon bucket right to the brim you should be able to get 500 12 gauge shells to fit inside. Better have a strong handle due to the weight. You can get 650 20 gauge hulls in to a 5 gallon bucket.
Just got back from the VA hospital yesterday. They did my annual physical, they draw blood every 6 months to check to make sure I am ok because I was exposed to agent orange when I was south of the DMZ back in 1970. I have been very lucky so far, I hope it holds!

thats good to know about the shells and I hope it holds too on the VA visit !
Im not trying to rub salt in the wound but Im fortunate to live in Alabama. Crow here is open ALL YEAR LONG! Granted, I dont have the shoots with BIG numbers like Bob and some others but we can hunt them anytime. About the only thing that shut down my hunting is the heat! I went coyote hunting this evening and its likely the last time Ill get out because its heating up. Just not comfortable sitting in a crop field in the heat.
10ga, care to share your 12ga crow load????

You two are extraordinarily brave to go after them in tick infested NH....I saw crows where -in my mind at least(I know-I know "What mind?) there was really no rhyme or reason for them to be there in that area...ravens yes-crows no!
But I can't wait to hear how you do with the crows in your part of the state. If the goose hunters get their limits quickly this fall I should get some crows but not a whole lot but some!
Best of luck; Parker Brothers!

Crows have no protection here as well...open year round with no limits or restrictions as to how they an be killed. Sadly, my province holds little for crows in the winter months...from November to March. Winters are long and cold. A good time to load a few flats of ammo for crows and clays. Only reason I still load 12 gauge ammo is the fact I still have hundreds of pounds of shot in my garage. I like 7/8 oz loads for skeet and generally shoot an ounce for trap and 5 stand.
Run and gunning a bit...will post a few pics here on the off season to keep things going!

I dont remember the velocity but I used to load A LOT of 1oz. loads with 18gr (I think!) of Hodgdon CLAYS powder for skeet. VERY comfortable in my 11-87 and very clean burning.

As long as they are crop destroying birds we can hunt them anytime in SC, but I generally wait till October. Had one early Fall hunt a couple years ago and the heat almost cured me of the sport!!
Lately we've been driving to the various sporting clays tournaments and seeing all those early morning crows on the roads. It's about to kill me! Can't wait for my first hunt.
Man, how I love to hate those bandits!!
