Here is a photo of Drew Moore and I in Oklahoma. He wrote the article "Ole Time Crow Hunting in the 21st. Century" it can be read in the Advanced Reader section of Crow Busters.
We spent a week together hunting crows, Drew was from Kentucky.
Drew mentioned in the article that on the first hunt we shot over 500 crows on an afternoon flyway shoot. He mentioned that it was a surreal experience for him.
The crows must have the migration in full swing right now in Canada. I remember I used to see the first migrants arriving in South Dakota in mid September. They used that Missouri River like a road map heading south.
Your son is really growing up I saw a photo of him on another post.
How much longer will you hunt waterfowl in your area, end of October?
Hi Bob, yup my boy is 5'-10", 175 pounds...and only 13. He shot his first ducks last weekend, proving be quite the shot. Typically we hunt ducks up to the end of October. Freeze up is imminent into early November but I have in the past shot mallards as late as November 17th.
On another note, I can say that I haven't seen so many crows in years. Sadly, Im in a training course until the end of October...leaving only weekends to hunt. I'm not a 9-5 guy but work shiftwork and dislike hunting weekends when all the duffers are out. So the good news is that a good crop of crows are headed your way!
Ted
