If there is one thing I enjoy, it’s watching a good shooter pull the trigger. If there is one thing I enjoy even more, it’s seeing good shots from a ShotKam video! The icing on the cake is when those videos are of crows being brought down.
Here are a couple for your enjoyment. Hope they aren’t repeats.
It is not the same with out hearing them coming in to a call. You don't have any where near the excitement level shooting them with the methods the Britts, Scots and Irish do as put forth in these clips in my opinion. When you hear them coming in cawing when they are in a fighting mood it is a completely different experience. I realize that they don't allow e-callers in Europe but they do allow hand calling.
I'll second that Bob. Crows responding to a fighting set-up is incredible.
They come in screaming MAD!
To me... that just about makes the hunt worth while! ;)
It is still fun for the gents across the pond but it would add to there enjoyment if they ever learned how to get the crows to come to a good hand call. The Rooks, Ravens, and Jackdaws would not react like there common crows would.
This is just my opinion here but to me it's very lack luster (dull) hunting crows in that manner because there is no excitement. It would be the same as hunting ducks with out having to call them. If that is all you have then you don't know any better and you either do it or you don't in Great Britten, Scotland, and Ireland.
77 days till season opens here Demi! I'm way behind getting everything ready! The nasty boogers are mocking me when I sit out on the porch and drink coffee in the mornings!! That's OK, it'll be here soon!

Our early season starts July 1, I just cleaned my shotgun and a bought four box's of #6 heavy field loads so I am getting ready to go. Last year I did a lot of jump shooting/run and gunning, I am going to try building a few blinds this year.

77 days!! Wow, that would be bittersweet news for me. Get to hunt early...in the blazing summer heat of South Carolina.
I’ve been on some hunts during melon season in late July or August and the last thing you want to put on is a face mask! The other problem is that there are only local birds here. Very small numbers. But at least it still counts as a hunt!
Bob, agreed on the calling, but for me the joy was in seeing some great clips of some very nice shooting.

Demi, I can relate to the summer heat being originally from Louisiana! Season opens there first week in Sept. when it cools down to 95+, 95% humidity, and dew points in the 90's! This being my last year here before moving back, I'm gonna enjoy opening day here again, where temps should only be in the mid 80's.

Very interesting as always Bob.....I have seen one plastic call that could imitate that weird sounding European/British Aisles crow......so it is well within the realm of the possible..but here too we will see that they don't need to use any calling; they set out a hundred whatever decoys and wait for them..
Here I have seen people calling when the crows were not hesitating coming in on another note....there are a couple videos of the folks across the pond trying to call but I noticed when they did the crows couldn't wait to come in!
If you want to meet for lunch I will be on John's Island in mid June for a few days.

Bob,
That should work for me! I’ve only got one away tournament in GA on the 14th & 15th. Other than that, I’m pretty flexible. Why don’t you PM me the dates you are available and we can go from there.
Thanks,
Demi
