Reminder About Depredation Report Deadline
Permalink

If any of you guys have been shooting crop depredation crows, you have until January 31st to send in your Annual Report form to the Feds, (regardless of them being currently unfunded).

This is a simple form that takes 10 minutes to fill out and stuff in an envelope. Here is the link for the form: https://www.fws.gov/forms/3-200-21-2143.pdf

After filling it out, I make a copy of it and stick it in my blind bag.  I have never been asked to produce it, primarily due to most game wardens being unfamiliar with crow hunting activities.  But if it ever happens, having it on hand is better than getting a warning or violation handed to me.  Once I was hunting with a member of our DNR Board and he asked about the regulation prior to the hunt...he thought it was his responsibility to do it before hunting, but it is an annual after-the-fact report.

Hope this helps.  Good Hunting!

Demi

Demi,

I thought you were being sarcastic. I'm thinking who ever is in charge of reviewing those forms is a non-essential or should be.  Those won't be looked at for a while.biggrin

I thought about it and decided I never shot one depredation crow last year. So I won't be sending one in anyway.

Randy,

Looking at all the regs on crow hunting can be a bewildering job. I really am not convinced that I need to comply with this section, but it's an easy form and I figure it could possibly make the difference if a game warden ever got pushy... who knows?!

Best,

Demi

Over regulated by virtue of a so-called "free" country which as we know is not. Up here in this county you just called the county office and told them where  you'll be, no tons of "paperwork"!!! Other counties I understand you need to get-are you ready for this(?)-"licensed!!! But to be sure most game wardens up here never heard of a "Crow hunter" and are often surprised to meet any!

Well in our part of the state they know us very well, we are about the only 2 that hunt crows as hard as we do in southeast NH. most wardens in this area have seen or talked us.

I meant "Federal Permits" or whatever they are called...the only reason I might run into a game warden on extremely rare occasions they are surprised. My partner and I are very low key when shooting as it is very irritating when the lasst shots for the season go unired because  the Game Warden wants to check licenses and there's crows  now flaring off..Game Wardens are not necessarily your friends; like any other law enforcement officer they asre out to hand you a handful of screws...to be fair the newer ones are very understanding particularly when my partner forgot his license. I felt sure he would get arrested!
