Gentlemen, are any of our members in or near the St. Louis area? I’m presently in route. I’m looking for a partner to schedule hunts with. If anyone is interested regarding Crow busting feel free to message me here.
Last time I was in St. Louis MO. the crows were flying right past the golden arches in the city! Hundreds of them!
Outside the city limits I scouted around and saw lots of duck blinds on the water just outside of St. Louis. They did have crows but in my opinion not enough to break in a new area. Sure you could shoot 50 to 75 a day perhaps but that kind of shooting holds no interest for me.
50-75 crows would be alright by me with all due respects. How ever if the area allowed for bigger shoots then I'd want that too-well-who wouldn't? If I lived in that area I'd be right after them!
Thank you for the advice Bob. The further south I travel the more crows I’m seeing. Networking through workers I’ve been introduced to a young hunter who is interested in joining me. 10 crows in a day is a good day for me. With that being said a novice hunter may not enjoy it. I’ll have plenty to do prior to hunting. Scouting, gaining permission, researching hunting regulations.
On another note, My Fifth-wheel hitch tore off in Northern Illinois, luckily I caught it at a fuel point. With hopes to repair it early in the morning feel through. I finally contacted a retired Crain operator who welds on the side as a hobby. The repairs took 5 hours, as the frame split in two. I can limp in to the campground now.
The insurance said it’s a total loss going to upgrade.
As for Crows here there are plenty at the oil refinery feeding in the trash cans. I’m staying in a campground about 40 miles East of St. Louis off I-70 in Jamestown. I seen a murder of 55 birds flying to their roost just behind the campground. They reminded me of Turkeys settling in for the night. Caws are soft and few . Corn and soybean are just now being harvested here. The season opens October 28. Across the river it open November 1st. I’ll have to wait for the migration and temperatures to drop.
Lots of old Bull Crows at the oil refinery digging in the trash here. I’m working 7-10s so I haven’t scouted yet. The outage should be over in November, but the Alkaline unit will go down for 45 days. I don't know when I’ll have time to hunt!
I have a house in St. Louis and tonight we had a murder of over five hundred fly over the house between 4:30pm and 5:00pm. I'm relatively new to Crow Busting and most of my hunting is well outside of the St. Louis area. I need to find a place to hunt along the path of these crows.
Good morning, Thank you for your service who have served.
ive just come off a 7-12 schedule and on 50 hours schedule now. I’m on the North East side of St. Louis . I have a friend in Lebanon IL who has 350 acres, I will do some scouting and see if any Crows are around.
I'd love to join you! I have a FoxPro Shockwave and over 30 decoys I can add to any spread you might have. Pictured is a hunt from opening weekend in Missouri by my house in Columbia. Took 11 in about 2 hours which is good for me and I'm sure they were all local birds.
Good job, ive got a dozen Boondockers a FoxPro and a Johnny Stewart system. I should be free this weekend. Shoot me a message and let me know what works for you. Thanks
This weekend, I plan on figuring out the roosting area of the crows that fly over my St. Louis house every evening around 4:30pm. I have suspicion that it's in the Granite City Ill area. I'll keep you posted on what I discover.
