When I tell my wife I should have done something better or different, her response is “ Would’da, Should’da, Could’ah... Don’t Should on yourself!” and she’s right. I’ve been burning my candle at both ends lately, so after dragging myself out of bed at 3:30 to hunt crows, I was so tired that my shooting was way off. I “shoul’da” have made the Century Club! Dang.
We set up over some wheat seedlings at a high fenced dove field and had good cover. Immediately, the crows came in strong and low, so by 7:30 we had 50+ on the ground. Not a single bird flared and 3 or 4 even landed among the decoys! It was so crazy that I forgot to load my FF-5 with a dead crow...don’t think it mattered early on.
By 9:30 the action stopped with 63 crows down, so we took a break until 2:00 when the owner had seen the PM action start. Pushing hard, and with poor shooting, we finished up with 87 Crows killed. It was a fun day with a good dose of fish crows that brought the numbers up quickly with every pass they made.
