We had a few more spots left to hit that we didn't have time to get to the other day. We made 12 stands today, and killed an even 50 and I kid you not a coyote that Bill shot. Todays work was a lot harder than the softies we got into the other day. We had three good stands out of the twelve killing 14, 10, and 13 in those three spots. Outside of those three hunts the rest where just a bunch of exercise. As for the coyote, I had been calling for a few minutes and the crows where circling way out of range so I flipped over to the distress call. A minute or two went by and I hear Bill cut down on what I thought was a crow, the crows I was trying to coax in left and I killed the call. I walk over to Bill and ask if he got him and he says yeah, (giggling his a## off) he is right there. There laid a coyote and my confusion made him break into a full blown laugh. It also should be noted that is the second coyote he has shot and killed while crow hunting.

Dale, before Dick and I started hunting together ( prior to 2000 ) he had a coyote run right through his tumble weed blind while he was in it! The wind was right and the coyote never caught his scent until he was in Dicks face!
So you are running & gunning near your home? That is a nice way to take the edge off if you don't have the time to go to your much better area and get a motel room.
That's funny. What's crazy about that one today is he was directly down wind of both Bill and myself, he had to of smelled us but the thought of getting a crow for breakfast was to much to pass up. Bill shot him at 15 feet with a 7 1/2 shot shell and K.O'd him.
Yes, Bob today we never got more than 10 miles from my house. And yes it knocks the edge off while I can't get loose to go on a hunt and helps me keep creeping my numbers up.

I bet that made Dick's bottom side pucker up !!! While out yesterday i had another Hawk attack on one of my boondocker decoy's. He knocked it off the stake but didn't fly off with it. I had about 20 dead bird's in the mix & was hoping he'd choose one of those & fly off with it. That would have been a sight.
Earlier this season Dale and i were on a hunt & we had the FF-5 going and an owl came in and was committed to the flapper, I stood up in my blind and threw my hand's up and yelled and he flared off. If i hadn't done that i think he'd have tumbled the FF-5. Yes, the thing's you see on a crow hunt. Paul.
Good work and report. You guys are keep'n after 'em.
We had a pair of coyotes come into the spread a few years ago. One picked up a crow while I was scrambling to find some buckshot, but we had to start shooting before I could get it loaded. They escaped, but not unscathed.
