Bob,

Nice pictures.  As you may remember, we are birdwatchers too, and love to feed them.  The hummingbirds and painted buntings are our favorite frequenters.  We have a different arrangement with our squirrels.  They are allowed to have a free run of the property, but must stay away from the house and bird feeders.  If they break their end of the bargain, we pull out the Gamo and they become food for the raccoons.

Also, I took the attached photo this morning of another visitor looking for food.  He sticks mostly to the turtles and frogs.

Hi Demi,

That Gator reminds me of hunting in Louisiana for crows years ago, you saw them and on one place the woman called her pet Gator General Lee!

I remember your bird feeders at your home on my last visit.

Demi do you have fox squirrels there. Or just the grey variety. Years ago I used to go to isle of palms and Sullivan isle and they had some fox squirrels there that I loved to watch.

Daryal,

While there are a lot of fox squirrels in the Lowcountry, we unfortunately don’t have any on our property.

They are fascinating animals. They lumber around so slowly, it’s hard to believe they can survive in the wild...but they sure do!

Demi

P.S. Did you ever find any horned toads on Sullivan’s Island?  They are non-native lizards and the story is that they came here from Military families stationed there from Texas. The kids brought their pet lizards and released them. They are only found on Sullivan’s Island.

Re: daylight robbers, i have 31 oaks on my property. Fight a constant battle trying to keep squirrels out of my garage and other infrastructure. Usually the small red squirrels that cause most of the problems. 17 calibre air rifle is always handy...
